The Brugal 1888 Gran Reserva Familiar is aged for a period between 8 and 14 years in American white oak barrels that previously contained bourbon. Subsequently, to further refine its character and complexity, the rum is transferred to European oak barrels that previously housed Oloroso sherry wine. This double maturation process gives the rum an extraordinary richness and an unbeatable aromatic structure.
Visually, the rum displays a sparkling amber color with golden reflections. On the nose, it stands out for its intense notes of dried fruit, caramel, and vanilla, with a hint of toasted wood and exotic spices that act as a prelude to a multi-sensorial tasting experience. On the palate, the Brugal 1888 Gran Reserva Familiar reveals itself as complex and velvety, with a perfect balance between the sweetness of vanilla and caramel and the warmth of the spices. The finish is long and lingering, with an aftertaste that leaves traces of dark chocolate and tobacco.
Ideal to be enjoyed neat or with a cube of ice, this rum is also an excellent choice for high-class cocktails that require a spirit of profound complexity and richness. A true treasure for rum enthusiasts and a discovery of excellence for newcomers, Brugal 1888 Gran Reserva Familiar is a symbol of Caribbean tradition, quality, and passion.

Distillation
Column distillation with two columns: first column operated at reduced pressure to produce a rough spirit (around 90% ABV), followed by redistillation to very high strength (up to 94.6% ABV) to obtain a light spirit; process described as double column distillation.
Ageing
Aging in casks with management of blends for variable periods (minimum 1 year up to several years); some expressions use double aging (aging in ex-bourbon barrels followed by finishing/aging in sherry casks). Barrels are selected by the Maestros Roneros and re-assembly/re-casking is used for premium reserves.
