On tasting it works well on its own, neat in the glass, to savour the complexity of the vintage, but it also suits pairings: dark chocolate, dry pastries made with nuts or a well-crafted cigar are excellent companions. A serving temperature around 18–20 °C enhances the aromatic nuances; a small decant or a few minutes in the glass allow further olfactory layers to emerge, without the need for artifice.

Distillation
Column distillation (column still / colonnes créole) typical of rhum agricole.
Ageing
Aging in wooden barrels/casks (barrique/foudre); releases include aged expressions, 'brut de fût' and vintage bottlings; some bottles also receive specific finishes in particular casks.
