Santa Maddalena Classico DOC from Ansitz Waldgries is an elegant and complex wine originating from the sunny hills of the Adige valley, in the heart of Alto Adige. Produced mainly from the Schiava grape variety, expertly crafted by this historic winery, the product retains a distinct freshness and a refined structure typical of the classic territory. Aging in wooden barrels helps to enhance its delicate fruity notes of cherry and raspberry, while a light spicy touch emerges in the finish, offering a harmonious and persistent tasting experience.

This Santa Maddalena reflects the balance between tradition and modernity, with a fragrant bouquet and a smooth body that pairs well with white meat dishes, cold cuts, and delicate cheeses. Presented in Magnum format and housed in a fine wooden case, it is also perfect for special occasions or as a refined gift.

Winery history
The property, mentioned in historical documents as early as 1242, is an ancient ansitz in the Santa Maddalena area. The Plattner family has managed the estate since the first half of the 20th century and, over time, transformed the historic residence into a small artisanal winery now led by Christian Plattner. Bottling on a modern scale began in the second half of the 20th century, and the estate has progressively developed a collection of wines focused on the local area.
Production philosophy
An artisanal, terroir-driven approach: hands-on work in the vineyard, respect for the characteristics of each grape variety, and a production focused on expressing the identity of local varieties. The owner likens the creation of the wines to an artistic process, seeking to accompany the wine’s evolution rather than force it.
Terroir and vineyards
South-facing vineyards in the Santa Maddalena area on the outskirts of Bolzano, with steep slopes and views of the Dolomites. The area is Alto Adige / Südtirol, with wines historically linked to the local appellation.
