The Spumante Alta Langa Rosé DOCG Contessa Rosa Riserva Brut 60 mesi - Fontanafredda is born in the Piedmont hills between the provinces of Asti and Cuneo, an ideal territory for the classic method thanks to its cool climate and calcareous-poor soils. This wine is mainly made from Pinot Nero, the flagship grape of the denomination, which gives elegance and structure to the olfactory bouquet. The aging for a full 60 months on the lees in the bottle imparts a unique aromatic complexity, with hints of toasted bread, red fruits, and subtle notes of rose. On the palate it is fresh, vibrant, and savory, with a fine and persistent bubble. Its liveliness and delicacy make it perfect to accompany refined fish dishes, shellfish, and seafood appetizers, but also preparations based on white meats or aged cheeses with a not too overpowering taste, enhancing its versatility. A precious perlage and a decisive character that tell the charm of the Alta Langa.

Winery history
The estate made history in the 19th century: purchased by Vittorio Emanuele II in 1858 and associated with Rosa Vercellana, the property was developed by the Mirafiore family and had already established its commercial reputation by the late 1800s. In the 20th century the Fontanafredda brand consolidated as a reference producer in the Langhe; after hardships related to crises and wars, the company regained momentum and, in 2008, was relaunched under new ownership led by Oscar Farinetti. In recent years Fontanafredda has undertaken a program of technical renewal and sustainability known as “Rinascimento Verde,” publishing sustainability reports and holding certifications as reported by the producer.
Production philosophy
Local production focused on quality, the protection of the vineyard landscape and sustainability. Fontanafredda coordinates a network of suppliers to operate across a wide area while maintaining a strong focus on conversion to organic farming, biodiversity and the transmission of agricultural practices between generations, with a significant investment in storytelling and the local community.
Terroir and vineyards
Located in Serralunga d'Alba, in the heart of the Langhe, the estate manages vineyards in several municipalities of the Langhe and lower Piedmont at varying altitudes. The area is characterized by limestone hills and the typical continental climate of the Langhe.
