Valtellina Superiore DOCG Grumello - Vigna Sassorosso - Nino Negri is a fine and distinctive expression of Nebbiolo, an indigenous variety which in this region takes the name of Chiavennasca. This wine comes from the specific sub-area of Grumello, renowned for its particularly suitable soils and its favorable sun exposures, which contribute to giving the wine a unique complexity and elegance. The "Vigna Sassorosso" is one of the most appreciated parcels of Nino Negri, a winery that represents one of the excellences in wine production in Valtellina, thanks to a history of passion and dedication spanning over a century.

This Valtellina Superiore stands out for its deep garnet red color, with reflections that tend to intensify with aging. On the nose, the wine expresses a rich and complex bouquet, where the notes of small ripe red fruits intertwine with floral hints, touches of spices and a light balsamic hint, testifying to the complexity that only the best Nebbiolo can offer after careful vinification and careful refining, partly in wooden barrels of different sizes.

In the mouth it reveals an elegant and powerful structure at the same time, with silky and well-integrated tannins that envelop the palate in a soft and persistent embrace. Acidity, a distinctive characteristic of Nebbiolo, is well present and helps to keep the wine fresh and long-lived, leading to a long and harmonious finish, with a pleasant persistence of fruity and spicy sensations.

Ideal in combination with red meat dishes, game, mature cheeses and complex preparations, the Valtellina Superiore DOCG Grumello Vigna Sassorosso is also an excellent meditation wine, which can be fully appreciated by letting it evolve in the glass to capture its nuances and depth of taste .

Terroir and vineyards
The vineyards are in Valtellina, cultivated on steep terraces with dry-stone walls in historic subzones such as Sassella, Grumello, Inferno and Valgella.
