The Valtellina Superiore DOCG "Sassella Riserva" by Casa Vinicola Rainoldi is a sublime interpretation of Nebbiolo, grown on the mountain slopes of the renowned Sassella sub-area. This reserve wine, produced only in the most favorable years, represents the excellence of Rainoldi's production, a winery that for generations has expressed the best of the Valtellina territory through wines of character and depth.

The "Sassella Riserva" is the result of a careful selection of the best Nebbiolo grapes, locally called Chiavennasca, coming from vineyards located on stony soils which give the wine a notable mineral structure. Winemaking follows traditional methods, with long maceration to extract the maximum in terms of colour, tannins and aromas. The prolonged refinement in oak barrels enriches the bouquet, adding notes of sweet spices, tobacco and leather, without overpowering the freshness and purity of the fruit.

Visually, "Sassella Riserva" stands out for its intense garnet red color, with orange reflections that develop with aging. On the nose, the wine opens with a complex and seductive aromatic expression, which ranges from notes of ripe red fruits to floral nuances of dried rose, enriched by accents of spices, vanilla and a light minerality, typical of the Sassella terroir.

In the mouth, the wine displays extraordinary elegance and complexity, with silky, well-integrated tannins contributing to a velvety texture. The acidity is well calibrated, supporting a rich and layered palate, where the flavors of cherry, plum and balsamic notes intertwine with the spicy sensations perceived on the nose. The finish is long and persistent, with a pleasant mineral vein that invites another sip.

Ideal in combination with intense and structured dishes, such as roast meat, game, mushroom-based dishes and mature cheeses, the "Sassella Riserva" by Casa Vinicola Rainoldi is a wine of great expression, capable of aging gracefully, improving over time. It represents an excellent choice for lovers of deep and complex wines, who seek the maximum expression of Nebbiolo from Valtellina in the tasting experience.
