Auchroisk 10 years offered by James Eadie is a whisky that favors clarity of character over ostentation. On the nose it opens with aromas of quince and ripe pear, a touch of honey and fresh malt, accompanied by light vanilla notes and sweet spices that remain restrained. The balance is immediate: it’s not an over-extracted whisky but shows compactness and precision, with a linear aromatic profile that invites the sip.

On the palate it confirms a pleasant roundness: the body is moderate, the warmth well calibrated and the texture silky. The sip is harmonious, with fruity returns and a hint of citrus that cleanses the palate, while the finish is of medium persistence and leaves memories of malt and gentle spice. Excellent enjoyed neat, with a few drops of water to open it up, it also makes an elegant companion to dark chocolate or aged cheeses without overpowering the dish. The 70 cl bottle is convenient for sharing and the James Eadie signature suggests a considered choice.
