The aromatic profile of Oban 14Yo is marked by its oceanic notes, a result of aging near the coast. The initial olfactory impact is a fresh breeze of marine flavors, followed by hints of citrus, honey, and a light smokiness that underscores its origin. On the palate, the whisky offers an incredibly smooth and rounded texture, with a spectrum of tastes ranging from the sweetness of caramel and ripe fruit to a light smokiness, reminiscent of the aroma of the burnt oak wood in which it was matured.
The finish of Oban 14Yo is long and smooth, with a lingering aftertaste that brings back salty and peaty notes, leaving a lasting impression of complexity and sophistication. The alcohol content of 43% serves to enhance all these flavors without being too overpowering, making this whisky ideal for enjoying neat or with a bit of water to further bring out its flavors.
This single malt is perfect for savoring at the end of a meal, perhaps accompanied by a fine cigar or a plate of aged cheeses, where it can fully express its range of aromas and complexity.
