The story
Alexander was created as a line/brand connected to Bottega SpA. The Bottega group, founded as a distillery in the 1970s, developed the Alexander collection and in 2011 opened the Alexander Blown Glass Factory where the artistic containers for the line are produced.
Production philosophy
A union of tradition and innovation: to offer soft, elegant grappas that preserve varietal characteristics while proposing artistic packaging (hand-blown bottles) conceived also as collectible objects.
Territory
Veneto (production site and Bottega group facilities, with the Alexander Blown Glass Factory located in the region).
Production method
Alexander grappas are produced by discontinuous distillation in copper stills, with multiple phases/temperatures to preserve aromas; some descriptions also report the use of vacuum distillation and bain-marie heating. Young grappas are generally rested in stainless-steel tanks before bottling; aged expressions undergo wood maturation depending on the specific reference.
Distillation
Discontinuous pot-still distillation (traditional copper still) with phases at different temperatures; some descriptions mention vacuum distillation and bain-marie heating to better protect aromas.
Ageing
Young grappas are usually rested in stainless steel (about 6 months for some references); aged grappas follow a variable period of wood ageing depending on the line.
