Distillation and production

Production method

Artisanal production with predominant use of pot stills (alambicchi a repasse) for many cuvées; the distillery also uses column distillation for certain releases. Work on small batches, targeted fermentations and cask blending for aged cuvées.

Producer history Papa Rouyo

The Papa Rouyo project was created as a tribute to Charles Albert Ruscade (Papa Rouyo), a historic sugarcane grower from Le Moule. The distillery opened recently (sources indicate 2021 as the year of inception) and developed as a collective initiative that brings together local farmers to promote small-scale rhums made from pure cane juice.

Production philosophy

To showcase the territory and the work of local "maître-canniers": attention to traceability from cane to bottle, preservation of terroir, artisanal practices and a family-style approach to passing on sugarcane knowledge.
