Winery history Gulfi

The estate is linked to the Catania family and to the project launched by Vito Catania in the 1990s, developing a path focused on enhancing the individual contrade of southeastern Sicily. Since the late 1990s the company has built its reputation chiefly around Nero d'Avola and the production of Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico DOCG, later carrying out trials on vineyards of Etna and the Val di Noto.

Production philosophy

Pursuit of "naturalness": bio-organic/organic viticulture practices, bush-trained vines where possible, the absence of systematic irrigation, and low-intervention winemaking to preserve the expression of the terroir and indigenous grape varieties.

Terroir and vineyards

The estate operates in three main areas of south-eastern and eastern Sicily: the Monti Iblei, with hillside vineyards on marls and calcarenites; the Pachino/Val di Noto area on the southernmost flank; and several vineyards on Etna. Each area has distinct soils and microclimates, producing wines with different profiles.

Awards and recognitions

Gulfi's wines have received scores and accolades from international critics and guides and regularly appear in industry rankings and reviews.
