Winery history Renardat Fache

The Renardat-Fâche family has been cultivating vineyards in Mérignat for generations. After World War II, Léon and his wife Cécile helped develop Cerdon's winemaking using the ancestral method. Key milestones cited by the estate include the granting of the historic Bugey appellation, Alain's return in 1974, Élie's arrival in 1996, and the start of conversion to organic viticulture in 2008 with Ecocert certification in 2012.

Production philosophy

Priority is given to environmentally friendly viticulture and low‑intervention practices: vineyard management focused on biodiversity, cellar temperature control, and winemaking that emphasizes natural fermentation to produce fine bubbles without external additions.

Terroir and vineyards

Vineyards located around the village of Mérignat, in the Bugey, at the foot of the Jurassic massif; soils described as the clay-limestone typical of the area.

Awards and recognitions

Reported recognitions and certifications: AOVDQS Bugey, AOC Bugey recognition, and Ecocert organic certification FR-BIO-01.
