Winery history Weingut Loersch

The Loersch family can trace its winemaking activity back to 1640. Today the estate is run by Alexander Loersch, who took over cellar responsibilities in the early 2000s and has developed a style focused on site- and vintage-typical Riesling. His father, Ernst-Albrecht, led the estate until 2008.

Production philosophy

Strong focus on terroir and the expression of individual vineyards: selective hand-harvest, gentle handling of the grapes, spontaneous fermentations with indigenous yeasts and extended ageing on the lees. Agronomic practices oriented towards naturalness.

Terroir and vineyards

Steep vineyards on Devonian schists and varied Moselle soils. Parcels and named crus include Trittenheimer Apotheke, Trittenheimer Altärchen, Dhroner Hofberg, Piesporter Goldtröpfchen, Neumagener Rosengärtchen and Leiwener Klostergarten. The estate is located on the Zummethöhe, between Leiwen and Trittenheim.

Awards and recognitions

Numerous accolades and strong ratings from Mosel Fine Wines, Vinum, Eichelmann and Gault & Millau; specific awards noted by the producer and placements in competitions such as Falstaff's Kabinett Trophy.
