Producer history Château du Breuil

The estate of Château du Breuil occupies a complex built between the 16th and 17th centuries. In 1954 Philippe Bizouard purchased the site to found the distilling operation now known as La Spiriterie Française – Château du Breuil. The estate maintains its own orchards (about 42 ha, 22,000 apple trees) and combines the local Calvados tradition with new product lines such as finished rums and single malt whiskies.

Production philosophy

To safeguard the Norman heritage of Calvados while applying maturation and blending practices that showcase excellent raw materials. The company emphasizes control of the supply chain (own orchards), aging in chais and a search for balance between tradition and experimentation (finished rums, whiskies from heritage barley varieties).

Territory

Pays d'Auge, Normandy (Le Breuil‑en‑Auge). The local context (temperate climate, clay soils) is cited as favourable to apple cultivation and to the maturation of spirits in the cellars.
