The hills of the Langhe are the homeland of Nebbiolo and of the wines that derive from this vine, and among these there is precisely Barbaresco. There are 14 vineyards from which the grapes from which this wine originates come, each of which carries out its own process of fermentation, maceration and aging in wood for 12 months separately. Subsequently we proceed to the assembly of the grapes and a further maturation of 12 months in wood.

Every Barbaresco Gaja is a red that faithfully expresses the vintage of production; an exceptional wine that contains the nuances of 14 different terroirs, which give this drinkable character and balance. Since 1961, Barbaresco Gaja has become an established and unequivocal brand in the oenological field, known not only in Italy but throughout the world.

The olfactory examination reveals a large and varied bouquet with the prevalence of floral scents, delicate spices, aromas of wild berries and mineral notes. In the glass it has an intense and dark garnet red color. When tasted, it demonstrates a dense structure, a balanced taste and a fine and elegant tannic texture. The long and vigorous finish can only conquer the palate and guarantee an entrancing sense of satisfaction.

The perfect combination is guaranteed with well-aged cheeses, game, roasts, grilled and stewed meat. Certainly it also proves to be an excellent glass to be enjoyed without haste in total relaxation as a meditation wine.

Winery history
The Gaja family has been present in the Langhe since the second half of the 19th century; the estate, established in the community of Barbaresco, became internationally renowned thanks to its modernization choices and the bottling of wines from individual vineyards. In the 1960s and 1970s Angelo Gaja introduced single-vineyard labels and experimented with techniques and grape varieties new to the area. Over time the estate has expanded beyond the heart of the Langhe with investments and holdings in other Italian regions.
