Domaines Faiveley's Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is an excellent example of Burgundian Chardonnay at its peak, coming from one of the most prestigious Grand Cru vineyards in the region. Domaines Faiveley, one of Burgundy's most renowned and historic wineries, is known for producing wines that precisely express the unique character of their terroir, combining traditional methods with modern techniques to achieve the highest quality.

The Bâtard-Montrachet vineyard is located on the border between the municipalities of Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet, in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, and represents one of the five Grand Cru vineyards in the area dedicated exclusively to the production of Chardonnay white wine. This privileged location, together with a limestone and clay soil rich in minerals, gives Bâtard-Montrachet exceptional complexity and depth, making it one of the most sought-after and appreciated white wines in the world.

The vinification and aging of Faiveley wines follows rigorous standards to ensure that each bottle reflects the purity and intensity of the fruit, as well as the unique nuances of its vineyard of origin. For Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, this means a slow and controlled fermentation in French oak barriques, followed by a period of barrel maturation that varies according to the vintage, during which the wine develops its structure and complex aromas .

Visually, Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru has a brilliant golden color, with green reflections that underline its youth and freshness. On the nose, the wine offers an intense aromatic palette that ranges from notes of white pulp fruit, such as peach and pear, to nuances of citrus, white flowers, honey, butter and a distinct minerality reminiscent of flint and chalk. This olfactory complexity is also reflected on the palate, where the elegance and power of Chardonnay are fully expressed in a rich but balanced structure, with a lively acidity that leads to a long and memorable finish.

Ideal in combination with refined dishes such as lobster, scallops, fish in a creamy sauce or poultry in delicate preparations, the Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru by Domaines Faiveley is a wine that enchants with its ability to combine aromatic intensity, depth of flavor and an extraordinary elegance, offering a tasting experience that remains etched in the memory of the most demanding wine enthusiasts.

Winery history
The estate has been part of the Faiveley family since its origins: the original holdings were established in the 19th century in Nuits‑Saint‑Georges and the family progressively acquired parcels in Burgundy’s finest climats. Over the generations the domaine expanded its holdings by adding Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards and has maintained a dual role as both a domaine producer and a négociant. Today Erwan and Eve Faiveley lead the estate; in recent years the group has also extended its geographic presence and has begun transitioning to more environmentally friendly practices.
Production philosophy
Highlighting the terroir and the identity of the individual climats, the family adopts an approach focused on fruit quality, agronomic practices increasingly aimed at sustainability, and the use of technologies and experimentation to reduce environmental impact while preserving the character and expressiveness of the wines.
Terroir and vineyards
Vineyards are primarily located in the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise, with holdings in Chablis. It owns parcels in numerous Grand Cru and Premier Cru sites and several historic monopoles. It also holds minority interests connected to Pinot Noir production in California.
