In the glass, Benromach Peat Smoke presents with an intense golden color. On the nose, the presence of a rich and persistent smokiness is immediately evident, combined with hints of vanilla and honey, all balanced by a light freshness of citrus. This olfactory profile is the result of the meticulous use of peat during the production process and the influence of the Bourbon barrels.
On the palate, the whisky reveals a wrapping complexity. The smoky notes dominate, but are beautifully accompanied by nuances of dark chocolate, cinnamon, and nutmeg. The structure is enveloping, with a creaminess that balances the intensity of the peat and wood. The finish is long and lingering, with an echo of sweet spices and a slight astringency that invites another sip.
The bottle is presented in an elegant case, making the 2014 Benromach Peat Smoke an ideal gift for whisky enthusiasts or an excellent addition to a connoisseur's collection. This year's limited production further emphasizes the exclusivity of this whisky, making it a true treasure for aficionados.

Distillation
Whisky: double distillation in copper pot stills with manual cut management; extended fermentation in larch washbacks. Gin: vapour-infusion in a copper still ('Peggy'), botanicals placed in a basket separated from the distillate.
Ageing
Maturation in oak casks stored in dunnage warehouses at stable temperatures; predominant use of first-fill barrels (bourbon and sherry) and experimentation with virgin casks and wine casks for the Contrasts releases.
