The Boggina A by Petrolo represents a sublime expression of the Tuscan terroir, where the indigenous Sangiovese grape finds one of its highest embodiments. This wine is produced in the picturesque area of Valdarno di Sopra, a region renowned for the quality of its red wines, benefiting from an ideal microclimate for viticulture.

The uniqueness of Boggina A lies in its winemaking process: the Sangiovese is cultivated following rigorous organic methods and fermented in terracotta amphorae, an ancient technique that allows the wine to express the purity and integrity of the fruit to the fullest. This process imparts Boggina A with a unique texture, featuring elegant and well-integrated tannins that harmonize with a lively acidity.

Visually, Boggina A presents an intense ruby red color. On the nose, it opens with enticing aromas of ripe cherry, floral notes of violet, and delicate hints of spices and aromatic herbs, indicative of a carefully balanced maturation. On the palate, the wine is rich and deep, with a complexity of flavors ranging from fresh red fruits to more evolved touches of leather and tobacco, culminating in a long and persistent finish.

Perfect for pairing with Tuscan cuisine, such as Florentine steak or dishes based on mushrooms and truffles, Boggina A is also an excellent meditative companion, capable of evolving and surprising over time. It is a wine that represents a profound connection with its land of origin and a pure expression of Sangiovese in one of its chosen terroirs.

Winery history
Petrolo is a historic estate in the Val d’Arno di Sopra that has developed distinct vineyards and recognized crus over time. Among its historic vineyards are Bòggina and Vigna Galatrona, the estate’s first Merlot planting, documented as a vineyard from 1990 and forming the basis of the Galatrona label produced since 1994. Over the years the estate has progressively reoriented its production practices and enhanced individual parcels to produce top-quality wines.
Production philosophy
The estate states a strong connection to the land and a respectful approach to nature: low-yield production, attentiveness to the soil and measured interventions in the vineyard and cellar. Petrolo emphasizes a poetic vision of wine as a transformation of nature and favors agricultural practices oriented toward quality.
Terroir and vineyards
Located in Mercatale Valdarno on the ridges at the southeastern edge of Chianti Classico, the estate extends across natural terraces beneath the Torre di Galatrona. The vineyards are situated between 250 and 500 metres above sea level on soils characterized by layers of galestro, sandstone and alberese, conditions that contribute to the identity of the wines.
