The Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva in magnum format from Villa Antinori, offered by Marchesi Antinori and presented in a wooden case, appears composed and restrained. In the glass it opens with aromas of ripe red fruit, hints of berries and light floral notes; in the background delicate spicy nuances and a touch of herbaceousness contribute to the olfactory complexity. On the palate it shows a balanced structure, with lively acidity and tannins that are present but measured, giving a sense of controlled strength without being intrusive.

It suits occasions where a substantial but unostentatious wine is desired: the magnum format makes sharing easier. It pairs with flavorful dishes, red meats that are not overly fatty, roasts and hard cheeses; it can handle aromatic preparations typical of Tuscan tradition. Before serving it is advisable to open the bottle a little in advance or decant it to encourage aeration, and serve slightly cool compared with room temperature.

Winery history
The estate’s winemaking origins are linked to the noble Della Gherardesca family (vineyards since the late 17th century). The property entered the Antinori holdings in the 1930s; the estate’s modern winemaking development took place from the late 1980s–1990s. First documented vintage of Vermentino at the estate: 1996.
Production philosophy
To express the Bolgheri terroir through parcel selection, experimentation in the vineyard and cellar, and practices focused on quality and respect for the territory.
Terroir and vineyards
Located in the Bolgheri DOC (Upper Maremma) on a plain encircled by gentle hills known as the “Bolgheri Amphitheatre.” Climate is moderated by sea breezes; alluvial soils range from sandy-clay to silty-clay with fine gravel (Bolgheri agglomerate), influencing the character of varieties grown (Cabernet, Merlot, Vermentino, etc.).
