The Ciliegiolo Marani is a red wine that captures the essence of Umbria's indigenous varieties, promising an authentic and deeply rooted tasting experience in the winemaking tradition of the region. This wine hails from the fertile Umbrian hills, where the climate and soil are perfectly balanced to cultivate the Ciliegiolo grape variety, known for its vibrant character and distinctive aromatic profile.

On the nose, Ciliegiolo Marani stands out with its intense notes of ripe red cherries and a light hint of sweet spices, thanks to careful aging in wooden barrels that enhance its aromas without overpowering them. The olfactory complexity is enriched with floral nuances and a hint of aromatic herbs, creating a bouquet that is both inviting and complex.

On the palate, Ciliegiolo Marani surprises with its extraordinary freshness and balanced structure. The tannins are soft yet present, masterfully integrated with the lively acidity that leads to a persistent and pleasantly fruity finish. The aftertaste reveals light notes of leather and tobacco, reflecting the wine’s elegance and maturity.

Ideal for pairing with Mediterranean cuisine, especially grilled red meats and aged cheeses, Ciliegiolo Marani is perfect for those looking to explore a pure and intense version of this lesser-known varietal. A wine that, year after year, continues to express the authenticity of its terroir and the passion of its producers.

With its commitment to quality and attention to detail, Ciliegiolo Marani represents an excellent expression of Umbria's winemaking heritage, making it a must for enthusiasts seeking authentic and memorable wine experiences.

Winery history
Amarano was founded as a family-run estate in the Montemarano area of Alta Irpinia. Public sources report the business began in 2004; management is carried out by family members who oversee both the farming and the winemaking decisions. Over time the estate has focused its production on the area's traditional grape varieties, favoring extended aging for the reds and lees contact for the whites.
Production philosophy
The winery declares a strong connection to the tradition of Irpinia: it primarily produces wine from native grape varieties, maintains low yields, reduces the use of chemical products by adopting integrated pest management protocols, and limits the use of sulfites. In the cellar, stainless-steel fermentations alternate with aging in barriques and large casks to enhance the wines' structure and longevity.
Terroir and vineyards
Located in Montemarano, in the heart of Irpinia, the estate cultivates vineyards situated on hills of predominantly volcanic and sandy origin, at elevations of around 500–700 m above sea level. The area is characterized by marked diurnal temperature variation and soils that enhance acidity, minerality and structure in the wines.
