The Corton Rouge Clos de Cortons Grand Cru Monopole from Domaines Faiveley shows a concentrated yet restrained aromatic profile: red and dark fruit, notes of wild berries and a slight earthy streak suggesting mineral hints without excess. The nose adds delicate spice notes and a touch of dried flowers; the olfactory component remains compact and well-ordered. Its concentration is paired with finesse and precise expression, offering clear progression and aromatic purity while maintaining a measured overall style.

On the palate it displays fine tannins and a balanced structure, with acidity that supports drinkability and a medium-full body that invites thoughtful tasting. It can accompany red meat dishes, moderately seasoned roasts and savory preparations, and also suits contemplative tasting moments. Storage and service call for attention to temperature and possible decanting to fully appreciate its development in the glass; broad wine glasses are advisable and, with a few years of cellaring, its structure may evolve toward tertiary notes without losing clarity.

Notable Burgundian estate in Nuits‑Saint‑Georges led by the Faiveley family: a wine producer (Domaine) that also operates as a négociant, known for its Grand Cru wines and for wines made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Region: Burgundy
Country: France
Founded: 1825
Grapes: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Aligoté
Long-established presence in Nuits‑Saint‑Georges and multi-generational family management. Extensive vineyard holdings across the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise. Strong focus on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay; presence of monopoles and Grand Cru. Path toward more sustainable agricultural practices and conversion to organic farming
Winery history
The estate has been part of the Faiveley family since its origins: the original holdings were established in the 19th century in Nuits‑Saint‑Georges and the family progressively acquired parcels in Burgundy’s finest climats. Over the generations the domaine expanded its holdings by adding Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards and has maintained a dual role as both a domaine producer and a négociant. Today Erwan and Eve Faiveley lead the estate; in recent years the group has also extended its geographic presence and has begun transitioning to more environmentally friendly practices.
Production philosophy
Highlighting the terroir and the identity of the individual climats, the family adopts an approach focused on fruit quality, agronomic practices increasingly aimed at sustainability, and the use of technologies and experimentation to reduce environmental impact while preserving the character and expressiveness of the wines.
Terroir and vineyards
Vineyards are primarily located in the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise, with holdings in Chablis. It owns parcels in numerous Grand Cru and Premier Cru sites and several historic monopoles. It also holds minority interests connected to Pinot Noir production in California.
