La Celia – Winery in Valle de Uco (Mendoza)

Discover the story and wines of La Celia.

Pioneering winery in the Uco Valley (Mendoza, Argentina), renowned for its expression of terroir and its specialization in Malbec and Bordeaux varieties; today part of the VSPT group.
Region: Valle de Uco (Mendoza)
Country: Argentina
Founded: 1890
Grapes: Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio (Pinot Gris), Pinot Noir
Pioneer: the first winery established in the Uco Valley and among the first to plant Malbec in the area. Specializing in Malbec and Bordeaux varieties with terroir-driven ranges. Vineyards planted on three distinct soils: Paraje Altamira, La Consulta, Eugenio Bustos. Approximately 380 hectares planted. Part of the VSPT Wine Group, with investments in technology and business renewal.
Winery history
The origins of the estate date back to the late 19th century: sources from the ownership and company communications report that the first Malbec was planted in the area between 1882 and 1890, and that the historic estate took its name from the founder's daughter, Eugenio Bustos. Over time La Celia has grown from the historic estate of Eugenio Bustos into a modern winery and part of the VSPT group, while maintaining a focus on terroir-driven viticulture.
Production philosophy
Seeking to express the terroir through measured winemaking interventions: parcel-by-parcel management, discreet use of wood for aging, and winemaking techniques aimed at preserving the freshness and typicity of the varieties.
Terroir and vineyards
Located in the heart of the Valle de Uco, the estate includes vineyards planted on three soil types at elevations reported between approximately 980 and 1,100 m a.s.l. The company reports around 380 hectares planted.
Awards and recognitions
The winery and its labels have received international scores and recognition and national awards. Among the mentions is a gold medal for La Celia Reserva Malbec at the Argentina Wine Awards 2024 and various recognitions for the estate's Malbecs and Cabernet Francs.
