The Etna Rosso DOC by Davide Fregonese is a wine that captures the essence of the unique volcanic terroir of Mount Etna. Made from Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio grapes, grown on the steep slopes of Europe's highest active volcano, this wine represents a perfect fusion between nature and Sicilian winemaking tradition.

In the glass, Fregonese's Etna Rosso presents a deep ruby red color, with hints that lean towards garnet as it ages. On the nose, it offers a complex and intensely aromatic bouquet, characterized by notes of ripe red fruits like cherry and wild strawberry, enriched by nuances of spices, tobacco, and a light mineral note of volcanic rock.

On the palate, the structure of this wine is exceptionally balanced, with well-integrated tannins and a persistent freshness that reflects the high altitude of the vineyards. The fruit aromas blend with hints of aromatic herbs and black pepper, leading to a long and pleasantly complex finish.

Perfect to pair with red meats, game, and dishes rich in mushrooms, the Etna Rosso DOC by Davide Fregonese is also ideal with aged cheeses. Its robustness and complexity make it an excellent candidate for aging, developing additional layers of complexity under proper storage.

Davide Fregonese, with his dedication and respect for the terroir, creates wines that are true ambassadors of the land of Sicily. This Etna Rosso DOC is a splendid example of how human intervention can harmonize with the wild nature to produce wines of exceptional quality and distinctive character.

Winery history
Davide Fregonese, originally from Piedmont and with professional experience in the financial sector, launched the Bugia Nen project by acquiring vineyards in Serralunga d'Alba and in the Etna area. He entrusted technical management and winemaking to experienced local figures to enhance the Piedmont crus and the Etna vineyards, developing the first vintages from 2014 for some labels.
Production philosophy
Seeking elegance and the expression of the terroir: respect for local tradition combined with a contemporary approach in the vineyard and winery. On Mount Etna the philosophy is "give without taking" — that is, to respect local practices and showcase indigenous grapes.
Terroir and vineyards
It operates in two distinct areas: the Langhe and the north-eastern slopes of Etna. Soils range from the calcareous-clay of the Langhe to the volcanic soils of Etna.
Awards and recognitions
Several individual wines have received scores and recognition from international publications as well as guide mentions.
