Martinenga Nebbiolo Langhe DOC by Marchesi di Gresy is a pure and refined expression of Nebbiolo, one of the most noble and representative vines of Piedmont. This wine originates from the prestigious Martinenga estate, located in the renowned Langhe area, the beating heart of Piedmontese viticulture, where Nebbiolo finds the maximum expression of its character.

The Gresy family, owners of the estate since the 18th century, has always focused on high quality and sustainability, working their vineyards with methods that respect the terroir and the environment. Martinenga Nebbiolo is the fruit of this philosophy, a wine that reflects the identity of its soil and the family's passion for wine.

The Nebbiolo for this Langhe DOC is carefully selected and harvested by hand, to ensure that only the best quality grapes are used. The vinification is aimed at enhancing the natural characteristics of Nebbiolo, followed by refinement which helps to round out the tannins and integrate the flavours, without overpowering the freshness and aroma of the fruit.

Visually, the wine has the typical garnet red color of Nebbiolo, with reflections that tend towards orange with aging. On the nose, it offers a complex and inviting aromatic bouquet, with notes of red fruits, dried rose, spices and a light mineral hint, typical of this variety.

In the mouth, Martinenga Nebbiolo Langhe DOC exhibits an elegant and well-balanced structure, with fine tannins and a lively acidity that gives length and persistence to the sip. The flavors of cherry, raspberry and earthy notes blend with hints of tobacco and leather, in a harmonious whole that invites another sip.

This wine pairs perfectly with a variety of Piedmontese dishes, such as mushroom risottos, roasted and braised meats, as well as medium-aged cheeses. Its elegance and versatility also make it suitable as a meditation wine, capable of evolving and revealing new nuances over time.

In summary, the Martinenga Nebbiolo Langhe DOC by Marchesi di Gresy is a tribute to the Piedmontese winemaking tradition, offering a tasting experience that is both rich in history and vibrant with modernity, a wine that celebrates the nobility of Nebbiolo and the richness of the terroir of the Langhe.

Winery history
The estate of Tenute Cisa Asinari has been linked to the di Grésy family since the 18th century; the family has owned the Martinenga cru since 1797. Winemaking under the Grésy label in its modern form was begun by Alberto di Grésy around 1973, when the family decided to produce wine exclusively from their own grapes and to promote wines that expressed the identity of the vineyards.
Production philosophy
The estate places great emphasis on vineyard care and on respecting the grape varieties and tradition: winemaking aims to enhance the terroir’s expression without altering it, producing elegant, balanced wines that reflect the character of each vineyard.
Terroir and vineyards
The estates are located across the Langhe and Monferrato and include Martinenga, Monte Aribaldo, La Serra and Monte Colombo. Martinenga is regarded as one of the area’s finest geographical indications, and the grapes from all the estates are generally vinified at the Martinenga winery.
