The Mazis Chambertin Grand Cru 2023 from Domaines Faiveley presents a refined, measured profile. On the nose there are aromas of ripe red and dark fruits, light floral notes and spicy nuances, accompanied by an earthy accent that adds depth. On the palate it shows a fine tannic weave, well-calibrated acidity and a juicy texture: the fruit is supported by an elegant tension that keeps the sip dynamic and persistent without becoming heavy. Complexity is evident in overlapping aromatic layers and a long finish that leaves spicy and slightly balsamic traces.

It is recommended to serve it at a moderate temperature and, if desired, to briefly decant to release the aromas. A large glass helps to express its nuances; avoid too-high temperatures so as not to weigh down the profile. It pairs with dishes based on red meats, game, mushrooms and aged cheeses, but also stands up to savory, structured preparations. This bottle suits both attentive consumption in the near term and those who wish to observe its development in the cellar with restraint.

Domaines Faiveley – Winery in Burgundy

Discover the story and wines of Domaines Faiveley.

Notable Burgundian estate in Nuits‑Saint‑Georges led by the Faiveley family: a wine producer (Domaine) that also operates as a négociant, known for its Grand Cru wines and for wines made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Region: Burgundy
Country: France
Founded: 1825
Grapes: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Aligoté
Long-established presence in Nuits‑Saint‑Georges and multi-generational family management. Extensive vineyard holdings across the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise. Strong focus on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay; presence of monopoles and Grand Cru. Path toward more sustainable agricultural practices and conversion to organic farming
Winery history
The estate has been part of the Faiveley family since its origins: the original holdings were established in the 19th century in Nuits‑Saint‑Georges and the family progressively acquired parcels in Burgundy’s finest climats. Over the generations the domaine expanded its holdings by adding Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards and has maintained a dual role as both a domaine producer and a négociant. Today Erwan and Eve Faiveley lead the estate; in recent years the group has also extended its geographic presence and has begun transitioning to more environmentally friendly practices.
Production philosophy
Highlighting the terroir and the identity of the individual climats, the family adopts an approach focused on fruit quality, agronomic practices increasingly aimed at sustainability, and the use of technologies and experimentation to reduce environmental impact while preserving the character and expressiveness of the wines.
Terroir and vineyards
Vineyards are primarily located in the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise, with holdings in Chablis. It owns parcels in numerous Grand Cru and Premier Cru sites and several historic monopoles. It also holds minority interests connected to Pinot Noir production in California.
