The Pinot Nero Riserva from Weingut Gottardi Mazzon is a splendid example of how elegance and depth can harmoniously coexist in a glass of wine. This wine hails from the renowned Mazzon area in the heart of Alto Adige, where the unique microclimate and particularly suitable soils impart the Pinot Nero with distinctive characteristics highly appreciated by connoisseurs worldwide.

With a delicate yet intense ruby red color, this Pinot Nero Riserva reveals a complex bouquet on the nose, featuring notes of ripe red fruits such as cherry and strawberry, enriched with hints of vanilla and sweet spices derived from careful aging in barrique. The olfactory complexity beautifully intertwines with a vibrancy that invites the first sip.

On the palate, the wine presents itself with an elegant and balanced structure. The acidity is well-integrated with the soft tannins, creating a velvety texture that wraps around the palate. The finish is persistent, with a return of fruity notes and a slight spicy touch that completes the tasting experience.

Ideal as an accompaniment to refined dishes such as roasted red meats, game, or aged cheeses, the Pinot Nero Riserva from Weingut Gottardi Mazzon is also an excellent wine for meditation, to be savored alone to fully appreciate its richness and complexity. A true gem of Alto Adige winemaking, this wine represents the passion and attention to detail typical of the Gottardi family, who have been dedicated to producing wines of the highest quality for generations.

Winery history
The Gottardi family, originally involved in the wine trade in Innsbruck, purchased the vineyards in Mazzon in 1986. Over the years the vines were replanted and the winery renovated: the first wine produced in the renewed facility dates back to 1995. Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer were also cultivated in the past, but since 2010 the estate has focused exclusively on Pinot Noir. Management has remained family-run: after the death of the founder Bruno and a period under Alexander’s leadership, since May 2022 the winery has been led by Elisabeth Gottardi.
Production philosophy
Utmost attention to Pinot Noir and the terroir: meticulous winemaking to express the elegance and identity of Mazzon, with a careful selection of barriques and oak aging for the flagship wines.
Terroir and vineyards
Mazzon, a west-facing hill in southern South Tyrol; its microclimate — warm days and cool nights — is considered ideal for Pinot Noir.
