The grapes used come from a 100% Sangiovese cru whose vines are grown on the Vigna della Croce farm, so called due to the presence of an ancient alabaster cross which in the past represented the connecting road between Ribano and the Rocca di Santarcangelo. The vines are trained with spurred cordon, the hilly terrain is located at an altitude of 200 m above sea level; the composition is clay loam and the exposure is east-west, 8 km west of the Adriatic Sea. The harvest takes place through manual sorting with selection of only the best grapes. The vinification is in red, it involves delestage and frequent pumping over at a controlled temperature for at least 10 days. Aging 12 months in oak barrels and 12 in bottles before being put on the market.
In the glass it shows off a ruby red color with garnet reflections that become more and more pronounced with ageing. The olfactory profile is rich, ethereal aromas prevail among all the tertiaries accompanied by fruity references of plum in alcohol. A wine of great structure, with sustained tannins and a very persistent taste.
A noteworthy Sangiovese that goes well with sustained first courses, roasted or grilled red meats, and game.
