Winery history
Le Macchiole was founded in the early 1980s in Bolgheri when Eugenio Campolmi and Cinzia Merli purchased vineyards on Via Bolgherese; over the years the estate has become a reference point in the area, standing out with landmark labels such as Paleo Rosso and later single-varietal wines like Messorio and Scrio. Today the estate is run by Cinzia, with the support of her children, who have continued to develop its quality.
Production philosophy
The estate prioritizes enhancing each individual vineyard and a sustainable approach: organic practices, hand harvesting and rigorous grape selection to express the identity of the terroir with a style focused on elegance, purity and distinct varietal character.
Terroir and vineyards
Located in Bolgheri, on the Etruscan Coast in Tuscany, the winery manages vineyards exposed to a maritime climate with very varied soils. Wind, temperature swings and deep soils favor the cultivation of international grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Syrah, as well as white varieties like Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
