The Virtus Langhe DOC in Magnum format by the Marchesi di Gresy is a wine that represents the oenological mastery and passion for the territory typical of this historic Piedmontese winery. Produced in the renowned Langhe region, famous for its wines of great character and complexity, Virtus is an example of how innovation and tradition can blend to create exceptional wines.

Virtus is a blend of Nebbiolo, Barbera and Merlot grapes, carefully selected from the best vineyards on the estate. This unconventional combination combines the structure and elegance of Nebbiolo, the freshness and liveliness of Barbera, and the softness and richness of aromas of Merlot, giving life to a unique wine of its kind, which best expresses the variety and the richness of the Langhe terroirs.

The Magnum format, equivalent to two standard bottles, is not only ideal for ageing, allowing the wine to develop greater complexity and harmony over time, but is also perfect for special occasions, a symbol of sharing and generosity.

The vinification of Virtus follows methods that respect both the varietal characteristics and the potential of the blend. After fermentation, the wine matures in French oak barriques, where it acquires notes of sweet spices, vanilla and a light toasted touch, which integrate perfectly with the fruit and enrich the aromatic and taste profile of the wine.

Visually, Virtus Langhe DOC has an intense and bright ruby red color. On the nose, it offers a complex and inviting bouquet, with notes of ripe red fruits, cherries and plums, enriched by nuances of spices, chocolate and a delicate hint of tobacco, evidence of the elegant passage in wood.

In the mouth, the wine demonstrates extraordinary structure and depth, supported by soft and well-integrated tannins, and a balanced acidity that gives freshness and drinkability. Red fruit flavors blend with spicy, toasted notes, leading to a long, lingering finish.

Ideal in combination with dishes rich in meat, game, mature cheeses and elaborate dishes, the Virtus Langhe DOC in Magnum format from the Marchesi di Gresy is a choice of great value for those who wish to celebrate special moments with a wine that combines the richness of the territory of the Langhe with the vision and innovation of one of its most prestigious wineries.

Winery history
The estate of Tenute Cisa Asinari has been linked to the di Grésy family since the 18th century; the family has owned the Martinenga cru since 1797. Winemaking under the Grésy label in its modern form was begun by Alberto di Grésy around 1973, when the family decided to produce wine exclusively from their own grapes and to promote wines that expressed the identity of the vineyards.

The estate places great emphasis on vineyard care and on respecting the grape varieties and tradition: winemaking aims to enhance the terroir’s expression without altering it, producing elegant, balanced wines that reflect the character of each vineyard.
Terroir and vineyards
The estates are located across the Langhe and Monferrato and include Martinenga, Monte Aribaldo, La Serra and Monte Colombo. Martinenga is regarded as one of the area’s finest geographical indications, and the grapes from all the estates are generally vinified at the Martinenga winery.
