Viticulture in the Marche region dates back to ancient times with a wide range of vines not always of quality, mostly intended for family consumption, and for the everyday table. The modernization began after the Second World War with the planting of fine vines in the hilly areas of Jesi, Cupramontana and in the Piceni Hills, the quality of which was officially recognized starting from the 1962 with the application of the legislation on the legal protection of Controlled designations of origin. Today we find more than 200 grape varieties and beers by highly respected master craftsmen.
