Winery history Mastroberardino

The Mastroberardino family has been involved in the viticulture of Irpinia for generations. The winery’s modern operations date back to the 19th century, and over time the family has played a central role in the revival and promotion of Irpinia’s wines, particularly through the enhancement of Aglianico and other indigenous grape varieties. The winery has also collaborated on historical and ampelographic research projects, such as the recovery of viticulture at Pompeii.

Production philosophy

Combining tradition and research: preserving and enhancing Campania's indigenous grape varieties, working on the land to express its diverse pedoclimatic characteristics, and producing wines that reflect the identity of Irpinia.

Terroir and vineyards

Headquartered in Atripalda in the Avellino area; vineyards and operations are concentrated in the Irpinia/Taurasi zone. The territory features varied altitudes and soils, with exposures and volcanic and calcareous substrates that influence the varietal profiles.

Awards and recognitions

Notable international recognitions: for example, the Taurasi "Radici" Riserva was included in Wine Spectator's Top 100, securing a top position in the 2023 ranking.
