Winery Gianfranco Alessandria

This is a family story: parents Giuseppe and Vittorina worked the land and, after his father's death, Gianfranco took over and developed the business beginning in 1986. Over time the winery has modernized certain cellar processes while retaining a strong artisanal character, and has passed on expertise to daughters Vittoria and Marta.

Slogan and practical approach: "we make wine in the vineyard". Field work is mostly manual, careful selection of grape clusters, temperature-controlled fermentations of short to medium duration and aging in small wooden barrels; guiding principle: respect for the terroir and natural methods with selective interventions in the vineyard and in the cellar.

Monforte d'Alba, Langhe, Piedmont, Italy. Vineyards are predominantly southeast-facing in the San Giovanni/Bussia cru area.

The winery and some of its vintages have received mentions and awards in magazines and competitions; online trade sources also refer to recognitions and to ratings and praise from importers and critics for various vintages.
