Il Nicchio of Tenuta del Nicchio, with its Toscana IGT designation, represents a refined and complex interpretation of the Tuscan territory. Coming from carefully selected vineyards, this wine is born from a blend of indigenous and international grape varieties, which find ideal conditions of exposure and terroir in the Tuscan hills to express themselves intensely and harmoniously.

The long aging, often carried out in oak barrels, gives this wine an elegant and enveloping structure, with a perfect balance between freshness and softness. On the nose it opens with notes of ripe red fruits, delicate spices, and balsamic hints that enrich its complexity. On the palate, a pleasant minerality is perceived, supported by well-integrated tannins that lead to a long and persistent finish, typical of the great Tuscan winemaking tradition.

Perfect to accompany grilled red meat dishes, roasts, and aged cheeses, Il Nicchio in magnum format is ideal for special occasions and for those who wish to celebrate the enological heritage of Tuscany with balance and character.

Region: Toscana
Country: Italia
Grapes: Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Ciliegiolo
A project by Lodovico Antinori and his daughter Sophia, with shared technical and oenological management. Strong focus on Cabernet Franc and a lighter, more refined style. Vineyards in the Alta Maremma between Bibbona, Bolgheri, Donoratico and Castagneto Carducci. Deliberately limited production; maximum indicated: 33,000 bottles. Notable ranges: Lodovico, Il Nicchio, Le 2 Ville; there is also a rosé called Sof.
Winery history
Tenuta del Nicchio is a recent project by Lodovico Antinori, carried forward together with his daughter Sophia. The vineyards, reclaimed from parcels long left uncultivated in the Tuscan Maremma, have been progressively restored to cultivation to produce wines with a clearly defined territorial identity. Technical management involves external professionals, while the family oversees commercial activity and brand image.
Production philosophy
A pursuit of finesse and a strong sense of place with limited production: the estate favors early harvests and parcel-by-parcel work to produce more elegant, characterful wines, focusing on varieties such as Cabernet Franc and on measured aging.
Terroir and vineyards
Alta Maremma, near Bibbona and Bolgheri. Vineyards lie in parcels a few kilometres from the sea, with vines on north-facing slopes and on steeper, terraced plots.
