Pairing Bucatini all'Amatriciana
The Merlot IGT from Casale Del Giglio shows a medium ruby color and an aromatic profile of ripe red fruits, plum and light floral notes. On the palate it offers soft tannins and a medium-bodied structure, with balanced acidity that supports the fruit without weighing it down. It is an easy-drinking wine with a simple yet pleasant flavor texture that favors fresh, juicy impressions over opulence. In the glass it opens readily and, with some aeration, reveals subtle spicy hints that extend the finish.

It pairs well with everyday dishes: tomato-based pastas, lighter white and red meats, pizzas and gently aged cold cuts. Serve slightly chilled, around 16–18 °C, and consume within the months following purchase. Casale Del Giglio presents this Merlot as a versatile, reassuring choice for those seeking a straightforward red wine suitable for casual dinners and relaxed moments.

Winery history
Founded in 1967 by Dr. Berardino Santarelli. “The future of Italian viticulture relies not only on consolidating the image of its traditional wine producing zones but on its ability to produce top quality wines at favourable prices in areas whose potential is still relatively unexplored.” (from the winery presentation).

Located in the Agro Pontino valley, between Aprilia and Latina (Le Ferriere), about 50 km south of Rome; maritime-influenced climate. The estate lists about 180 hectares of vineyards, converted to cordon training and planted with both local and international varieties.
