Reserva XR by Marques de Riscal is an emblematic Tempranillo produced in the renowned Rioja region of Spain, where winemaking tradition blends with innovation. This wine is distinguished by expert aging, which involves a long stay in American and French oak barrels, imparting complexity and harmony to the sip. On the nose, intense aromas of ripe red fruits, vanilla, and sweet spices open up, accompanied by elegant hints of tobacco and leather. On the palate, the enveloping structure is supported by soft and well-integrated tannins, with a persistent and harmonious finish.

The terroir of Rioja, with its limestone soils and Mediterranean climate moderated by the ocean, favors balanced ripening and extraordinary aromatic depth. Reserva XR is magnificent to accompany grilled meat dishes, roasts, and aged cheeses, thus enhancing the richness of the meal with its refined and complex personality.

Winery history
The property originated as a winery associated with the title of the Marchese de Riscal. Camilo Hurtado de Amézaga was the driving force behind the entrepreneurial transformation that led to the company's founding in the second half of the 19th century; the winery has a long tradition of producing Rioja and, from the 1970s onward, has also established itself in the Rueda appellation for white wines. During the 20th and 21st centuries the estate expanded its wine‑tourism focus by creating the "Ciudad del Vino" and building the iconic hotel designed by Frank Gehry.
Production philosophy
The estate declares a strong commitment to respecting the land and to wine quality: it promotes organic and regenerative farming practices aimed at preserving soil health, enhancing varietal character and adapting the vineyards to climate change. At the same time it seeks to combine tradition and innovation, opening the cellar to the public with tours and hospitality experiences.
