Damoiseau's Vieux Millesimato 2008 is a rum that displays a mature, composed character, with a distinct, enveloping aromatic profile. On the nose there are hints of dried fruit and molasses, notes of vanilla and a spicy thread that does not overwhelm; the profile is clean and warm, with a roundness that invites the sip. The overall impression is one of balance between depth and finesse, qualities that make it interesting both for tasting and for pairing.

On the palate the sip is full and soft, with substantial body but no roughness: the natural sweetness coexists with a subtle salinity and recurring notes of caramel and bitter cocoa. The finish is elegant and persistent, with a warm spicy note that accompanies the retronasal. It is best enjoyed neat or with a splash of water to open up its profiles; the boxed packaging also makes it suitable as a gift, perfect with dark chocolate, dry pastries, or for contemplative sipping after a meal.
