Santagostino Rosso, like all Firriato wines, has the main characteristic of being impeccable in style and cleanliness of execution. The company produces wines with a great fruity charge and extreme taste pleasure that fully reflect all the warmth and immense generosity of the Sicilian land.
It is defined as a real jewel of Trinacria enology, where love for one's land and love for things done well prevails. Santagostino Rosso comes from a particular equal blend of Nero d'Avola and Syrah, a perfect fusion of wines of great depth and minerality.

It has a dark ruby red color and offers fruity hints of marasca cherry and blueberry jam to the nose, followed by floral aromas of rose petals, with hints of black pepper. The taste is warm and soft, with a silky tannic texture and a long spicy persistence.
A perfect match is with the timbale of pasta and aubergines, it goes well with roasted meat and Ragusano DOP.

Winery history
Founded as a family project by Salvatore Di Gaetano in the 1980s, Firriato has grown by expanding its presence across multiple estates in Sicily and bringing the island’s wines to international markets. The family has remained actively involved in technical supervision and brand development, over time establishing estates dedicated to production, ampelographic research and hospitality.
Production philosophy
The winery pursues an approach focused on respect for the land: careful selection of soils, promotion of local grape varieties and sustainability-focused agricultural management. Firriato declares the conversion of its vineyards to organic farming and has undertaken initiatives to offset and reduce the company's climate footprint.
Terroir and vineyards
The company's holdings are distributed across several estates that represent different terroirs: the hills of the Agro Trapanese, the slopes of Mount Etna and the maritime viticulture of the island of Favignana. The individual estates mentioned in the sources include Baglio Sorìa, Borgo Guarini, Dàgala Borromeo, Pianoro Cuddìa, Giudeo, Cavanera Etnea and Tenuta di Calamoni in Favignana.
