Appenzeller Alpenbitter is an Alpine bitter with a clear yet well-balanced personality. On the nose it reveals herbal and resinous notes, citrus peel and a balsamic touch reminiscent of thyme and rosemary; the spicy component adds depth without overpowering. On the palate it shows a balance between initial softness and well-integrated bitterness, with warmth at the center and a savory texture that keeps the sip flowing. The persistence is clean, with returns of herbs and root that define the character.

It works well as a digestif after a meal, served neat or with an ice cube to open up its aromas, and it also fits nicely in mixing when bitter and aromatic notes are sought. Excellent with dark chocolate, aged cheeses or boldly flavored game dishes: it helps cleanse the palate and bring the meal to a measured close. 70 cl bottle; store in a cool place away from light.
