Distillation and production

Production method

Harvesting and milling of local cane; primary use of fresh cane juice for single-farm expressions and production in both column stills and pot stills depending on the single farm/lot. Some releases are distributed as 'pre-cask' (unaged), while others undergo maturation in oak casks.

Distillation

Combination of pot still and column still; the choice of method varies by lot/farm (e.g. some expressions pot still, others column or mixed).

Ageing

For aged expressions: maturation in wooden casks; there are also 'pre-cask' unaged releases. Some bottles feature blends from American oak (first-fill bourbon) and French oak ex-Bordeaux casks.

Producer history Renegade

The Renegade project, initiated by Mark Reynier, was planned from 2015; construction of the distillery began around 2018 and the first spirit production was recorded in autumn 2020 (first documented distillation 21 September 2020). The first public releases appeared in 2021/2022 and in 2023 a flagship range of high-provenance expressions was announced.

Production philosophy

Strong focus on transparency and provenance: each batch is tied to individual terroirs/farms in Grenada. The philosophy aims to express differences in soil, cane variety and distillation methods, favoring fresh cane juice and field-to-glass traceability.

Island of Grenada (Caribbean). The distillery is located in the Meadows/Conference area (near Upper Pearl) in the parish of Saint Andrew.
