Winery Marqués de Riscal

The property originated as a winery associated with the title of the Marchese de Riscal. Camilo Hurtado de Amézaga was the driving force behind the entrepreneurial transformation that led to the company's founding in the second half of the 19th century; the winery has a long tradition of producing Rioja and, from the 1970s onward, has also established itself in the Rueda appellation for white wines. During the 20th and 21st centuries the estate expanded its wine‑tourism focus by creating the "Ciudad del Vino" and building the iconic hotel designed by Frank Gehry.

The estate declares a strong commitment to respecting the land and to wine quality: it promotes organic and regenerative farming practices aimed at preserving soil health, enhancing varietal character and adapting the vineyards to climate change. At the same time it seeks to combine tradition and innovation, opening the cellar to the public with tours and hospitality experiences.

Headquartered in Elciego, in the Rioja Alavesa. It operates primarily in the D. Rioja and D.O. Rueda denominations and owns/controls vineyards in various locations throughout the Rioja Alavesa and in areas of Rueda and Castilla y León.

Notable recognitions include: the Diploma of Honor at the Bordeaux International Exhibition and the designation as "Best Vineyard in the World" and "Best Vineyard in Europe" in the World's Best Vineyards 2024 ranking.
