Winery history Capanna

The Cencioni family began operations in Capanna in the second half of the 20th century; the estate has been family-owned since 1957 and started bottling its own wines in the 1960s. Management has remained in the family and is now led by Patrizio and Amedeo Cencioni. The winery has a long tradition in producing the classic Brunello of Montosoli and is among the historic estates of the appellation.

Production philosophy

Traditional, terroir-driven style: family-run management, careful attention to the vineyard and winemaking in line with local tradition to express the elegance and freshness of Sangiovese di Montosoli. The estate states it is investing to update the cellar while maintaining a classic production style.

Terroir and vineyards

The vineyards are located in the Montosoli area, on the northern slope of Montalcino. The terrain is characterized by stony soils and galestro and by a marked diurnal temperature range, factors considered decisive for the freshness and elegance of the wines. The estate’s vineyards are all within a radius of approximately 2 km from the winery.
