Winery Cantina Tramin

Originally established as a cooperative on the initiative of parish priest Christian Schrott, Cantina Tramin dates back to 1898. Throughout the 20th century the winery grew in size and reputation; in 1971 it merged with the historic Cantina Sociale di Egna and, from the 1990s with the arrival of oenologist Willi Stürz, directed its production toward high-quality, selected wines. The current facility, completed and inaugurated around 2010, is an acclaimed architectural work. In recent years the winery has launched high-end wines that have received international recognition.

Cooperative work and strong local roots are at the core: enhancing the qualities of the local vineyards, preserving aromas and typicity, and pursuing quality through vineyard selection and careful management in both the vineyard and the cellar. The winery combines traditional farming practices with technological and architectural innovation to offer expressive, distinctive wines.

Situated south of Bolzano, the Termeno area is characterized by varied microclimates, changing elevations and limestone soils that strongly influence the varieties grown. The vineyards lie on slopes and hills around Termeno, Egna, Montagna and Ora, with sites historically prized such as Mazzon and Glen for Pinot Noir and areas where Gewürztraminer develops its distinctive aromatic profile.

Among the awards and mentions: Stoan; recognitions such as "Tre Bicchieri" for the Gewürztraminer Nussbaumer; the Gewürztraminer Terminum singled out as Wine of the Year; citations in international competitions; and the wine Epokale awarded significant scores by the international press.
