Winery history Ronco del Gelso

Family-run winery: the Badin family cites 1988 as the year they first bottled under the Ronco del Gelso name. The estate shifted from livestock farming to wine production, growing from a few thousand initial bottles to a production, stated on their current website, of approximately 150,000 bottles annually.

Production philosophy

The company emphasizes full control of the production process. In the vineyard, agronomic choices are geared toward quality: trellised training using single Guyot, high planting density, soil management with cover crops and yield limitation to achieve wines that express the terroir.

Terroir and vineyards

The vineyards are located in the narrow strip of plain formed by the tributaries of the Isonzo, between the Isonzo plain and the Collio. The soils are described as lean, stony and dry, conditions the estate considers favorable for quality viticulture.

Awards and recognitions

Numerous accolades and high scores, particularly for the Pinot Grigio "Sot Lis Rivis".
